Partly. Murdoch-owned, but American-run day to day
Partly. Fox News is controlled by the Murdoch family, and Rupert Murdoch was born in Australia. But he became a US citizen in 1985, and the network's day-to-day boss is American.

Fox News is not run by an Australian in any simple sense. Rupert Murdoch founded it in 1996 and is Australian-born, but he has been an American citizen for decades. The Murdoch family is still the controlling owner, and Lachlan Murdoch leads the parent company. Suzanne Scott leads the network itself. Whether you count Rupert as an Australian depends on whether you go by birth or by current citizenship. Ownership details can change, so this reflects my knowledge and not a fresh check.
- Fox News is owned by Fox Corporation, which the Murdoch family controls.
- Rupert Murdoch was born in Australia and became a US citizen in 1985. He became chairman emeritus in November 2023.
- His son Lachlan Murdoch is chair and CEO of Fox Corporation. He was born in London, grew up partly in Australia and is a US citizen.
- Fox News Media's CEO, Suzanne Scott, is American and runs the network day to day.
- A 2025 Murdoch family trust settlement left Lachlan in control of the family's media holdings. This is from memory and I did not check it.
